So few directors are operating at the level that Yorgos is at the moment. His run over the past decade has quite literally been out of this world.

And boy, what a fun addition this is to the Yorgos cannon. Sure it’s got the zaniness we’ve come to expect from him, but this one also has some bursts of energy that were fun to see from him. There are a few moments in particular where things start feeling monotonous & almost the second you start thinking that, the film goes into another gear.

There is going to be plenty of praise given to Stone & Plemons for their insane performances (and MUCH deserved praise I might add). But Aidan Delbis as Don was the real surprise to me. He has such a difficult role essentially being the stand-in for the audience as we try to parse out what’s real vs what’s not and what’s right vs what’s wrong. And he just knocks it out of the park. There are lots of reads you can have on the movie & plenty of themes to chew on, but I actually think his character serves as the skeleton key to truly unlocking even more about what’s on the mind of the screenplay.
