Aaron's Thoughts

Really enjoyed stretches of this, but I just couldn’t get past everything that doesn’t work.

Elordi is as great as advertised. It honestly makes me rethink what the ceiling is for him as an actor. He’s that good here.

The runtime is self indulgent. Almost all movies are about 20 minutes too long, but very rarely are they about 45 minutes too long. It felt like a slog on a big screen with a crowd of people so I can only imagine how it’s going to play at home.

The over reliance on CGI is repulsive. There were stretches (in the top room of the tower) where I felt like I was watching Wicked (very uncomplimentary). GDT is capable of MUCH better.

I get that GDT has a thing for creatures that I will never understand or relate too, but I think his love for the monster blinded him from some of the major themes of the story.
