Really respect the swing here & still think it’s a great idea for a film. I’d be interested to see a version of this without those dang dissolving boxes because that is what really got to me by the end. I get that Zemeckis was constrained with what he could do with the camera to remain committed to the shtick, but there had to be a better way to do transitions than those boxes - maybe even some hard cuts between the past & the present would have been effective? Honestly anything but those boxes for an hour and a half.
Anyways, that’s why he is a legend & I’m not. To give it credit, I’d be lying if I said there weren’t moments that the whole thing didn’t work on me. People acting like this is one of the worst things ever need to see more movies.
