Aaron's Thoughts
I thought this was totally enjoyable and fun, but I’m a bit confused at the rapturous reception to this one? I get celebrating it, but holy moly we need to chill a little bit, guys. There is no way this will be a top 50 movie of the year when it’s all said and done. Heck, maybe not even a top 75 movie!
Maybe it’s the Raimi of it all? Maybe it’s because I watched this in the middle of Sundance weekend when I was already watching mediocre movie after mediocre movie & this one just blended in with all the others?
Rachel McAdams is literally my queen & I’m still confused by the response. Can’t we just let an enjoyable and fun movie be just that? Why do we have to put the burden of “excellence” on movies that are just totally fine. It’s a disservice to the art form & to people who only watch a few movies a year based on what others recommend.
It feels really weird to be saying all of this for a movie I genuinely liked, but it just had to be said.
