Aaron's Thoughts
Not ideal timing for this to come out literally right after American Fiction. All I can speak for is my experience with the film, but literally the whole time I just kept laughing about how all of it was beat for beat exactly the type of script that Monk spent the whole movie berating in American Fiction. Which is a firm reminder why American Fiction works and this doesn’t, at all.
The film has its moments & some good performances, I’ll give it that. But ultimately it’s nothing but a premise movie. The trailer was intriguing, but that’s unfortunately as deep as the whole thing actually gets into fleshing out the world.
