Peeping Tom was only in theaters for about five days in the UK due to the public outrage over it its portrayal of violence on screen. The director of the film went from being beloved in Britain to being effectively blacklisted from the industry.
It’s so fascinating to chart how many times this happens throughout the history of film & how often those films turn out to be considered masterpieces. Couldn’t help but think about Babylon.
Would love to travel back in time and watch this with a horrified audience in 1960
