The Worst Person in the World

Like many, I cherished this when it came out 4 years ago, but I remember not emotionally connecting with it as much as others did.

Watching it now at 26 years old, it hit me like a ton of bricks.

The decisions you make in your 20s are often the most life altering, yet the adult version of you is the least capable to make them. It’s overwhelming. You are changing as a person yet the world is constantly changing around you. It makes you wonder how anyone ever makes a decision at all, whether big or small. It makes you wish there was a pause button on life so that you could process everything happening around you & inside of you.

Some big decisions you nail. Some you don’t. But that’s life. Some people will be in your life for moments. Some for decades. But only you will be there for the whole ride, so don’t beat yourself up or not have your own back. It’s okay to be the worst person in the world sometimes. Life goes on & the sun will always come up.

After all, what even is your 20s if not for you constantly waiting for the moment you “get it” & life magically begins? Only to wake up & realize life has already been happening all around you.

As a random aside, this includes not only one of my favorite performances of all time (Reinsve’s performance as Julie) but also one of my favorite scenes in a movie (when Julie & Eivind meet for the first time & playfully see how close they can get without “cheating”).
